That's because the motorcycles and scooters have lower pollution control standards than cars and I'm talking about the ones driven on the highways. A car on the average puts out 9.41 tonnes of CO2 during construction and and the motorcycle puts out 13.7. Also the motorcycle releases more carbon monoxide (CO), nitrous oxides (NOx), and unburnt gas (HC's) into the air which has bad human health impacts. Imagine the toxin release put out by dirt bike with no emission control standards and mufflers, it's no wonder they're so smokey and noisy
Sure fuel consumption wise the motorcycle is twice as efficient than the car, but because they are smaller and don't have the capacity to carry things like a heavy catalytic converters they put out 10 times more air pollution than an SUV with the release of large amounts of Nitrogen oxides. So choosing the electric bike over the gas one will not only save you money at the pump but also you will be doing our environment a big favor.
